What Deeside covers

Deeside is not a single town but the name given to the cluster of communities running along the Dee in eastern Flintshire, together with Deeside Industrial Park on the reclaimed land beside the estuary. In practice that means Connah's Quay, Shotton, Queensferry, Sandycroft, Garden City, Mancot, Hawarden, Ewloe and Broughton — a large part of the county's population in a compact area.

Because it borders Cheshire and sits on the A494 and A55, Deeside is also where the county's traffic concentrates. It is the part of Flintshire from which Chester is closer than Mold.

What Gold Up buys

Gold jewellery of any standard, scrap and broken gold, and unwanted items from clearances and downsizing. Items are grouped by their hallmark and each standard is weighed separately. The categories and how each is handled are set out on the sell gold and scrap gold pages.

Cross-border selling

Deeside residents often shop and work in Chester and the wider north west, so it is worth saying plainly: gold does not need to be sold in the country it was bought or hallmarked in. Items marked abroad, or carrying marks from the closed Chester assay office, are valued on the same basis as anything else. See UK assay office marks.

The rest of the county
